- This Elite Series Die Cast R2-D2 was released in May 2016 at Disney Stores
- The figure is a re-paint of the previously released D23 Disney Die Cast R2-D2 figure
- This time around the droid was given a dirtier appearance on the body, the blue color on R2 is lighter and the screw holes in the back were covered

- In order to get the middle leg in and out of the droid it can be pushed all the way into the body until it snaps into place, push it in again and it loosens so that it can be pulled out and extended all the way
- The dome can be rotated 360 degrees (it doesn't trigger any functionality)
- There are no panels on the droid which can be opened
- There are no wheels in the bottom of the feet
- Disney included a display stand with R2-D2 (nice, but the droid doesn't have any holes in the feet and R2 stands securely on his)
