MORE INFORMATION

  • This Obi-Wan Kenobi Concept figure was released together with a Concept Darth Vader figure exclusively through ShopDisney.com in October 2022
  • For this figure Hasbro used the body of the Obi-Wan Kenobi figure from 2016, repainted it and added a new head sculpt
  • Unfortunately this figure of Obi-Wan Kenobi isn't very accurate when compared to the Ralph McQuarrie concept designs, the shoulders are wrong, the belt is wrong (the included lightsaber hilt can't be clipped onto it, instead it still has the useless hook from the ANH figure), and none of the original concept designs for Obi-Wan had a big pouch on the belt
  • The blue tunic on the front was much, much thinner on the concept drawings for Obi-Wan
  • We've seen Hasbro cut costs by simply repainting figures many times over the past few years, but when it comes to paying tribute to Ralph McQuarrie, who had such an incredibly important part in making Star Wars happen by defining the visual language for the movies, we would like to see much more care placed into figures like this
  • Compare this figure to what the Hasbro team did in 2007 for the 3 3/4" line: Concept Obi-Wan Kenobi, it's night and day, the 3 3/4" figure came with two different lightsabers, soft-goods and a much more accurate outfit
  • Obi-Wan's lightsaber blade is removable from the hilt
  • The figure is able to hold the lightsaber well in both hands
  • The color tone on the outfit matches the original concept drawings well
  • The figure has a very good looking head sculpt and the photo real print looks good on it
  • Obi-Wan stands well on display without falling over
  • Overall, if a 3 3/4" figure from 15 years ago comes with soft-goods, two different lightsabers and a more accurate design to the original concept drawings for Obi-Wan Kenobi than this 2022 Black Series 6" version, then it's needless to say that this 6" version is a big disappointment
  • This figure feels like a cheap repaint without paying proper homage to the genius of Ralph McQuarrie and his original concepts for Obi-Wan Kenobi
