MORE INFORMATION

This R2-D2 action figure was released during The Legacy Collection in November 2009. The figure is based on R2-D2's appearance in A New Hope, when a Jawa jumps out from behind a rock and paralyzes R2 with a lightning shot.

R2-D2 has the typical 5 astromech joints, which are a rotating dome, 2 legs and 2 ankles. A third leg can be attached, this way you can have the little astromech droid displayed in a "moving" position or a standing position with only two legs. All legs have little rolls in the bottoms so he can be rolled around your diorama. The lighting can be placed on top of the dome and is overall a decent fit. R2's restraining bolt on the front is permanently attached and there are no panels on the droid which open up. When you turn the dome it makes the familiar clicking sound and the droid's periscope moves in and out of the dome.

The paint application on R2 is O.K. There is some light dirt on the legs and some very light dirt on the front and back of the body. Overall, it's a decent R2-D2 figure, but if you already own one, you can easily skip this release as it has little new to offer. In addition, it would have been nice if the lightning accessory would have covered R2's entire body in order to really distinguish this figure from previously released versions.

PACKAGING TEXT

Scavenging Jawas find R2-D2 in the Jundland Wastes. They incapacitate the droid and attach a restraining bolt to keep him from escaping. The plucky astromech droid is then place in the cluttered hold of the Jawas sandcrawler.
