On January 29, 2013, Brian Truitt revealed on USAToday.com that Hasbro was going to release 6-inch Star Wars action figures in Fall 2013, which confirmed months of speculations. The Black Series 6-inch line debuted officially on August 1, 2013, along with the basic The Black Series 3 3/4-inch figures. Despite the higher price point of approx. $19.99, almost twice as much as a 3 3/4" Star Wars action figure at the time, the all-new scale was received well by fans.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back in 2020 Hasbro released figures on special Kenner inspired cardbacks. The very first figure released in this series was Boba Fett in Kenner inspired colors during San Diego Comic Con in 2019, and even though the cardback featured the classic Star Wars logo (just like it did in 1979 right before the release of The Empire Strikes Back), the top of the card featured the 40th of The Empire Strikes Back logo. Besides the single carded figures listed below there were also other 40th ESB designated figures, such as the Carbonized Darth Vader, Stormtrooper and Boba Fett figures (all three released in a box, not on a card), the Probe Droid and the Luke Skywalker (Dagobah) with Yoda 2-pack which were released in the Black Series Deluxe assortment.
Out of 19 figures released 4 were exclusives, which shows a focus of 21.05% on exclusives and 78.95% on regularly available figures.
If you have purchased one of each figure pictured here on this page when it was released at regular MSRP in the United States, or one of each multipack / convention exclusive, you've spent a total of $389.82. This averages out to $20.52 per figure.
